Hi, I’m James. I help people work through trauma, attachment wounds, and stuck patterns using EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches. My work is grounded, intentional, and yes — I bring a little humor and a lot of metaphors to sessions. Healing is easier to understand and stick with when it actually makes sense for you, whether that’s through nerdy explanations, mechanical examples, music, or even sports.
I know trauma isn’t just in your memories — it lives in your body, your relationships, and your sense of self. Traditional weekly therapy works for some people, but for others, things get stuck. That’s where EMDR and intensive approaches can help: they give your brain and nervous system the chance to process and integrate in ways that feel clear and embodied.
I also believe therapy should feel like a human interaction, not a lecture. We’ll laugh, we might use analogies that make you raise an eyebrow, and we’ll work together to figure out what actually helps you change — not just what sounds right on paper.
I work with people who are ready to do the deep work of healing — whether that’s trauma, attachment wounds, or emotional patterns that keep showing up.
If you’re someone who:
- Wants focused, intentional work rather than a long stretch of weekly therapy
- Appreciates humor, metaphors, and explanations that actually make sense
- Wants a therapist who is human, warm, and a little quirky
- Is ready to engage deeply with the process
…then you’ll likely feel at ease here.
If you’re looking for a textbook-style therapist, this probably isn’t the place — but if you want someone who’s skilled, human, and will meet you where you are, you’ve found the right spot.
I’m easy-going, but focused. Sessions are collaborative and trauma-informed. We use EMDR, guided discussion, and sometimes creative or metaphorical approaches to help your brain and body actually integrate experiences.
You’ll get a sense of my style quickly: grounded, a bit quirky, and always centered on what works for you. Humor and metaphors are part of my toolkit because learning and healing stick better when they actually make sense in your life — not just in a textbook.
Some trauma work takes longer than standard weekly sessions. EMDR intensives let us dive in, stay present, and give your nervous system the time it needs to process.
It’s intentional, concentrated work designed to help you make meaningful progress in a way that fits your schedule and your life. I love guiding people through intensives because it lets the brain actually do what it’s capable of — heal — without the constant start-and-stop of weekly sessions.
If you’re curious whether working with me could be a fit, the best next step is a free consultation. We’ll chat, I’ll answer questions, and together we’ll figure out what type of therapy — intensives, weekly sessions, or a combination — makes the most sense for you.
No pressure. Just clarity.
